Friday Flash 55 : Misery of Miserly(Beast fable # 6)

Pig:(lamenting to Cow): How's it that people always praise you as gentle;when you only give them milk and cream? I give much more like bacon, ham, bristles and they pickle my feet.Yet I'm unpopular. They even use my name as an abuse.

Cow:(Musing) Hmmm...perhaps it's because I give while I'm still alive...

Hmmm being called a cow is no compliment, but on the other hand having a special cultural status adds another layer of safety for the the cow.

brian, hehehe, That would be love standing upside down :D

Mark, in our country calling someone a cow ('guy' in our language) is the biggest compliment you can give to someone, who is gentle loving caring and full of human kindness. on the other hand I wouldn't like to be called cow ( in english) either ;D

This is an allegory about stingy people, who accumulate a lot of wealth without caring to help others during their lifetime; and then suddenly leaving it all for others to grab after they die ( they are too thrifty to spend it on themselves either in their lifetime)

OK...So what you are saying, is if I called YOU a cow, you would blush then smile demurely, and think that I was great?

Haha. I don't thing the cow or the pig are very lucky. We eat them both, then insult them.

Comment from a vegetarian.

G Man. I wouldn't like it if you call me 'cow' but if you call me a 'guy' ( term for cow in our language, which has another connotation) then I will be happy! ;)

Yes, you are right, we take and take and take from these beautiful cows and from pigs too and abuse them until we kill them.
I've been a vegetarian for many years too, always believed if animals could speak and tell us their feelings, we'd never eat them and, also I believe all animals have souls too.

A huge problem with modern culture is the loss of appreciation for what the other creatures of this planet give up for us.

Feeling your sorrow for the loss of your sister.

Yes- well, pigs also are kind of mucky. But we do need the cows to go on giving.

I am a vegetarian for many years - what happens to pigs these days worse than ever - huge sheds, concrete floors, crowding.

What's especially terrible is that they are super smart.

interesting post!

Nice allegory...It would be much better to give when we are alive, of course ~

Happy weekend ~
