Wednesday - One Shot

Last night
The rain drenched me.
Cold and shivering
I came to you
Seeking warmth

Your mouth
Did not
Claim mine
To blow a heat
To Life

Instead
You broke dried twigs
From the past
Gathered
Dry leaves
Of the time gone by
And built
A fire

Emptying our hearts
Of shriveled words
Smoothing out lines
We studied our palms
Shedding tears...

Then
Pruning , sawing
Whatever you found
Outgrowing
On my body ,
Chopping off
The taboos
All these
You fed to flames
To keep me warm
And alive.

Those are hard feelings to be dealing with. You have expressed them with great life.

Sounds like a savior.

I rather like this - in fact, on second reading I like it very much. It is sometimes useful to perform certain sorts of rituals to tame the past such that it can no longer interfere with the living of life on a day to day basis. This is how this poem reads to me. The imagery really speaks to me... Thank you

I must quote here from Upanishad

"The whole of life is only a swan song! Never forget those lines:

The lion, when stricken to the heart,
gives out his mightiest roar.
When smitten on the head, the cobra lifts its hood.
And the majesty of the soul comes forth,
only when a man is wounded to his depths."

Your sadness is pleasant. Hold the tears and convert it into gasoline. Burn! What else we are to do? This whole life a string business, finding happiness in unhappiness.

And wasn't that good?!?! Ofcourse it mustn't have felt all that great just then.. but later?? Hell yea!! Cuz now, that fire will last long!!

Very well articulated, and a lovely flow to this poem, Mona...

To be dry and with a friend who has skill in the use of the pruning tools is a fine place to be.

Sounds like a better way to be warmed up than just a quick blast of heat. This kind of warming stays with you. A touchingly romantic One Shot!

Beautiful words concerning the growth of a true-love relationship. We all must walk through the fire at some point in our lives and what better companion to have than one who builds a fire to warm rather than to destroy.

I like this one a lot!!

Hi Mona

Thanks for the tip on the
homeopathic medicine (Hypericum Perforatum)...I will look for it. I'm not sure how familiar you are with bipolar disorder but trust me, it can be a trip.

Thanks for visiting my site and your kind comments.

Hope you are well...
